Hi! ππ½ ππ½ Welcome to the UNSTUCK[MONEY] newsletter! This is the inaugural issue of what I'm proud to say is the official newsletter of UrbanMoneyBudgets, my coaching practice. This month I'm focused on job layoffs. It's no secret that the last few months have been traumatic for a lot of families. A sudden loss of employment sends ripples through a workplace - and a community. It takes an emotional and financial toll. I'm providing a little insight on what you need to do if you think you might be laid off and steps to take if the unthinkable happens. βββ Places to Begin the Search for Your Next EvolutionOften when layoffs happen they can take a person off guard. But rather than focusing on the end of a long-term career, consider it an opportunity to explore your next evolution. It can be the chance to consider a new career direction, a role that pays more, or a completely different industry. Back in 2010, when I was laid off as a managing editor of a news organization, folks were saying, "Congratulations!" because they understood the power of new beginnings. So approach your layoff as the opportunity to find your dream and make it real. Invest in YourselfKick up your self-improvement and professional development. Now's the time. The way to survive and thrive in today's dodge-y job market is to become a lifelong learner. Ensuring financial stability includes making sure your employment is secure. Professional development is a component of a healthy self-care plan. Here are a few resources where you can gain new skills or brush up on old ones. |
